Project Digital Assessment-How we measure the impact of our lessons

By Mary Mungai,

At Project Digital, assessments are essential for guiding our students toward success. From regular evaluations to practical assessments, here’s how we use assessments to empower our learners.

Why We Do Assessments

Assessments allow us to measure not only academic progress but also engagement, creativity, and overall development. According to a study published by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, well-planned assessments foster cognitive and emotional growth in children.

Our goal is to ensure that every student receives tailored support across key topics like digital literacy, mental health awareness, and climate action.

How We Conduct Assessments

At Project Digital, we assess our students in the following ways:

  • Formative Assessments: Ongoing quizzes, discussions, and interactive tasks throughout our sessions.
  • Saturday Morning Assessments: Every Saturday morning, we conduct assessments for the previous session to track how much students have retained and to adjust our approach if necessary.
  • Final Assessment: At the end of the Boot camp, we conduct more structured evaluations which s practical, where every student gets to work on their project on their own, to gauge long-term understanding.

Each assessment is carefully reviewed and evaluated to follow up on the progress of our students, ensuring personalized feedback and support.

Frequency of Assessments

Assessments happen on a consistent schedule:

  • Weekly Assessments during each Saturday morning session to reflect on what was covered in the previous week.
  • Final Major Assessment: At the end of the boot camp, we conduct a final practical assessment. This comprehensive evaluation helps determine the awarding of certificates and ensures the students can apply what they’ve learned in real-world scenarios.

The Results and What We Do Next

The results of these assessments guide us in:

  • Tailoring future lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Providing additional support for areas that need improvement.
  • Celebrating achievements to motivate and encourage further engagement.

Our final assessment not only measures academic understanding but also practical skills, making sure our students are well-equipped for future challenges.

Focus of Our Assessments

Our focus is on developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emotional resilience. By addressing topics such as mental health and climate action, our assessments reflect personal growth alongside academic success.

At Project Digital, assessments are the backbone of our boot camp, helping us nurture and develop the next generation of digital thinkers. Stay tuned for more updates on how we’re creating impact through our learning strategies
